Your story of your beloved friend, Bob, moved me deeply. You were very blessed to have such a friend. Whether man or creature, such friends are very very rare, and are true gifts from God.
Bless you, and be at peace. I don't believe that our Lord would give us such a wondeful gift on earth, then deny it to us in Heaven. You will meet again.

On Joy and Sorrow
When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy.

When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.

On Death
In the depth of your hopes and desires lies your silent knowledge of the beyond;

And like seeds dreaming beneath the snow your heart dreams of spring.

Trust the dreams, for in them is hidden the gate to eternity.

 The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran

Dear John: I found your site through a post at a trucker's forum. I'm a new driver seeking advice about eating on the road (or any other aspect about being on the road). The above passages give me some comfort at times of great loss. I hope you will agree. I send you a big warm fuzzy through the digital ether. My heart grieves with you. Been there myself. After 10 years I still miss her. Thanks for sharing all the pics. He was gorgeous! I hope you can celebrate your good fortune in having shared his life over mourning his loss. Bob would want that for you.

May peace be with you always.

I am so sorry for your loss. I read this and could not stop thinking of it. Oftentimes pets are more trustworthy and long lasting than the humans one has to deal with. Enjoy retirement at your cabin please.

John, I only just now got to your Blog, sorry it took so long ... Bob was a real gentleman, the only time we met. Cats can sense a "dog lover," Bob never held it against me. I know you miss him, because I still mourn my friend, Tuff Benford Tooles. aka Bet T. Rottweiler. I hope the new children get settled in soon, as I want to visit the (and You, of course,) when we make it back in the Spring.

John,

I was terribly sorry to read about Bob. I've enjoyed your stories about him, and I totally believe humans and animals can be soulmates. Bob was yours.

He was beautiful, I'm sorry for your loss.

John,

My sympathies on the loss of Bob. Your memoir is so touching and I think it's wonderful that you took the time to share his/your story. Some kitties are extra special!

FYI, I just found your blog through the link on our RORT friend Cliff's page. I enjoy your writing in general and I'll be back to visit your blog again soon.

Best regards, Camille

John,
I am very sorry for your loss. Bob was a person, just as much as anyone. And a friend. I believe you will see him again.
Until then, his memory will be a comfort.
Take care,
John Kay
